Rosarita comes from beach sand smelted during the 1940s through the early 70s for its gold content. The remaining by-product, a gold-infused glass, which also contains quartz particles, is now in short supply. Gold refinement efficiency has increased, and the byproduct produced today is completely clear as it no longer has gold remnants.
