This beautifully graphic, statement-sized half-moon stone displays rich, coppery-red bands that gleam and shimmer with every movement. Red rutiles range from hair-like to substantial, crystalline bands sit inside of crystal-clear quartz dissecting and floating suspended behind a very prominent horizontal band. Some of the thicker rutiles terminate inside of the stone, displaying the sub-metallic terminal edge while many, and especially the central rutiles, show the textural, linear etching across the rutiles. Within the stone, these saturated rutiles cast and reflect shadows creating an ever-changing scene of metallic reddish-magenta to bright semi-transparent crimson evoking a meteor shower streaking across a moon.
A rare, collector grade gemstone that is truly one of a kind. Extremely beautiful and a spectacular specimen of rutilated quartz.
